Privacy policy
Supa Sample is a Chrome extension that detects the musical key and BPM of audio playing in a browser tab and lets you record that audio. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data.
The short version
Supa Sample runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. No audio, analysis results, or usage information ever leave your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party servers.
What the extension accesses
- Tab audio. When you activate Supa Sample on a tab, it reads that tab’s audio stream to analyze its key and BPM, and — only when you press Record — to save a recording. All audio processing happens locally, in memory, inside the extension.
- Network timing (read-only). To identify the audio codec/bitrate for the “Audio Quality” readout, the extension reads your browser’s local Performance timing data for the tab. It does not read page content, and this information is used only on your device and then discarded.
What the extension collects or sends
Nothing. Supa Sample does not send any data to us or to any third party. It makes no external network requests of any kind. It contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking.
Recordings
When you press Record, the extension captures the tab’s audio and saves the file via your browser’s normal download flow, to a location you control. Recordings are never uploaded anywhere — they exist only as files on your own computer.
Local settings
Your preferences (file-naming options and the overlay’s on-screen position) are stored using Chrome’s local storage on your device. They are not synced to us and never leave your machine.
Permissions and why they are used
- tabCapture / activeTab — read the active tab’s audio to analyze and record it.
- offscreen — run the audio analysis in a background document (required by Chrome’s Manifest V3).
- scripting / host access — display the on-screen overlay on the sites where you use it. The extension does not read or modify page content.
- tabs / windows — follow the active tab/window so analysis applies to what you are currently listening to.
- downloads — save your recordings to your device, including via the optional “Save As” dialog. Files are saved only to your own device.
- storage — save your settings locally.
Children
Supa Sample is a general-purpose audio tool and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “last updated” date.
